Title: The Hollow
Music: The Hollow by A Perfect Circle
Editing: Callea

River and Jayne must feed the hunger. I was going to explain more, but I think I'll leave it open to interpretation.
24/Kiefer Sutherland Icons

Here's a bunch of 24 and Kiefer Sutherland icons I made like 2 years ago and never managed to post... or finish. I didn't get much more than the cropping done on some. I'm not going to work on them anymore, but I wanted to share them with anyone who wants them.

Feel free to use any without text as bases. Please give credit for anything you use though. No hotlinking.

Teasers:

Rayne Fic: Unspoken

Title: Unspoken
Author: Callea
Rating: PG13 for violence and grown-upish themes and language
Category: Drama/Angst
Warning: Not a feel-good piece

Notes: This is a follow-up to thecricket's fic Mistakes based on the bunny by jynnantonnyx28. I thought it was a great fic and a great follow-up idea.

Also, this is my first Rayne fic, so I hope you like. Unbetaed, so all mistakes are my own. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Summary: After getting kicked off Serenity for breaking River's heart, Jayne finds himself in a situation he wasn't exactly looking forward to.

Jayne strode down the dusty street o’ some backwater planet, trailing three well-armed, shorter men. The two directly in front o’ him were ruffians just like him, hired guns who weren’t paid fer their smarts. They were purely the muscle, and although they weren’t as big er as fast as Jayne, he knew he coulda been worse off than ta be runnin’ with the likes o’ them… even if the shorter one was dumber ‘n had a temper shorter ‘n Jayne’s own.

At the lead of the pack was their capt’n, Curt, a lanky, red-haired fella who was raised near the core. He had more fancy schoolin’ than most in his trade. He was also what Jayne would consider a “dork”. The guy had a real complex about it too. Tried to act bigger an’ badder ‘n he really was. Only reason most folks put up with him was the three men tailin’ him. Only reason those men put up with him was that they was just smart enough to know they weren’t smart enough to run the op themselves. Three muscles didn’t work with no brains.

Jayne was the last of the group to pass through the doorway of the empty bar where Curt had arranged to carry out the transaction. The deal was that they get the goods from the smugglers inside, and then hand over the coin. After the goods were safely aboard their ship, they’d take ‘em back to the buyer and get their payday. Curt, however, had other plans, plans that involved keepin’ both cuts.

As Jayne’s eyes adjusted to the dim lighting inside the musty building, he just barely made out the shape of a tall man in a long, brown jacket. To the man’s left stood a beautiful, but dangerous looking, all-too-familiar, Amazonian warrior woman.

“Oh, cao wo,” Jayne cursed.

He shoulda known he’d eventually run into ‘em. ‘Verse weren’t big enough not to, not in their line o’ work. The good jobs were too few and far between lately, and every group o’ brigands was scramblin’ over the bodies of the last group ta get their own cut.

Jayne figured he was bound ta end up working a job either with or against ‘em sooner or later. He just didn’t expect it ta be quite so soon, and he’d hoped like hell it wouldn’t be against ‘em, especially not trying ta put one over on ‘em like he was plannin’.

He’d be foolin’ himself if he even entertained the notion that, on their best day, he and his new cohorts could take Mal’s crew. Jayne’s new capt’n had book smarts, which usually substituted well enough for street smarts, but Mal had some of the former and a whole heap of the latter. Also, unlike Curt, Mal wasn’t easy ta get riled up. Mal had a better crew behind him, too. Zoe was a better shot than eiher o’ Curt’s other two hired guns, and though Jayne didn’t know much about Mal’s new guy, he knew they had somethin’ no other crew Jayne would ever ride with could have: that gorram moonbrained, mind-readin’ girl.

He’d told that girl once she was gonna be the death of him. If today’s events played out the way he knew they were gonna, he might turn out to be right after all, as close as Jayne usually got ta bein’ right anyway. She was, after all, the reason he was, at this moment, standin’ on the wrong side o’ Zoe’s gun barrel on a deal that was about ta go south.

Hell, Jayne figured he’d already gotten eight extra months o’ livin’ anyhow. He was damn lucky he’d only got his self booted off that boat ‘stead o’ a bullet between the eyes for sexin’ up the ship’s little albatross, letting her fall for him, and breakin’ her heart.

Without him meanin’ to, Jayne’s eyes scanned the room for her. They found their target not far behind Mal and Zoe.

Seemed like she weren’t even payin’ attention to the deal. Damn girl was wanderin’ around aimlessly, wearin’ a pink sundress and a bright orange flower in her hair. He rolled his eyes. Weren’t that just like her? Lookin’ all innocent, cute, and completely harmless when she was all manner o’ deadly. That girl could take all four of ‘em out with her bare hands then walk out without a scratch on that pretty, porcelain skin.

He watched her tiptoe around the room, right hand trailing over random objects... cups, candle holders, pool cues. She passed by unheeded by everyone except Jayne.

His eyes took in every inch of her, traveling down her body and stoppin’ at her feet. Black combat boots. A pang of disappointment swept through him at not seeing her bare feet gliding over the cool stone like he’d watched ‘em do countless times over the steel of Serenity’s cargo hold floor.

The memory of those soft soles sliding over his naked legs and wrapping around his body as he moved inside her flitted through his head. He missed her feet.

River stopped. Her head jerked up, and though she didn’t look toward him, Jayne swore he saw her biting her lip. “Ai yah!” Jayne growled and gritted his teeth. She’d heard that. Last thing he wanted was for any o’ them ben dans from Serenity knowin’ he wasn’t doin’ more ‘n fine since they booted him. Didn’t need ta give ‘em the satisfaction o’ knowin’ he missed anything about ‘em... even if that somethin’ was just gettin' his rocks off on a regular basis.

Jayne made an effort ta pay attention to what Mal was sayin’, notin' the familiar tension in his voice. It was the tone Mal got just after he realized a deal was about ta go bad.

Jayne found himself unsuccessful in his attempt to ignore River as his eyes fell back to her. He watched her straighten her shoulders and stride toward the tall man standing to Mal’s right, her gaze dancing over the man’s form as she closed the distance. Jayne had barely seen the guy before now, but he quickly fixed a scrutinizing glare on him. Jayne huffed. This was the guy they replaced him with? Sure he was as tall as Jayne, but a bit scrawnier and not nearly as intimidatin’. He was at least ten years younger, and he weren’t even holdin’ a real gun. Looked almost like some fancy Alliance go se. He even had some silly gadget strapped ‘round his waist. Jayne snorted. This guy was almost pretty enough ta give the Doc a run fer his money. Jayne would bet good coin that the two o’ ‘em got along real well, too.

Jayne’s face sunk into a deep scowl at the thought of this guy being on good terms with the Doc, havin’ his blessings to pursue his little sis. Even if Jayne had declared undyin’ love fer River, the Doc never woulda accepted they was together. None of ‘em woulda. They never woulda seen him as good enough for her.

Jayne remembered the disgusted looks the others had given him when they’d found out he’d been sexin’ River. They’d glared at him like he was a lecherous, perverted, old man, like he had no business puttin’ his filthy hands on her pure, high class skin. Every one of ‘em looked at him like the thought made ‘em ill. Even little Kaylee.

Jayne was growing very uncomfortable with the tightening feeling in his gut. He balled his hands into fists and clenched his jaw. Weren’t fair that some bu zhong yong little hun dan prob’ly had a red carpet rolled out for him on his way ta River’s bed.

Jayne tried but again failed to draw his eyes away as River reached the object of her intense gaze. He watched her press her body against the other man’s back, close her eyes, and rest her cheek on his shoulder blade.

Without risking a glance in her direction, the man reached back and gently rubbed her hip. “Not now, baby,” he muttered.

Jayne gritted his teeth until it felt liked they'd shatter then growled toward his captain, “Curt, can we get this over with already?”

“Shut up, Jayne,” the wiry, red-headed man spat back.

Jayne kept his voice low. “Trust me, this ain’t a bunch you wanna get on the wrong side of. Just stick ta the deal and let’s get outta here.”

“I said shut up, Jayne,” came the heated reply.

“I think you oughta listen to yer man, Curt,” Mal answered with his hand hovering nearly unnoticeably over his holster.

“Why’s that?”

“’Cause for once in his sorry life, he knows what he’s talkin’ about.”

Jayne bit his tongue against any retort and found himself once more staring at River’s delicate body still plastered up against some other man. The subtle, warm curves of her body were molded to his like they belonged together, like Jayne had never existed, never meant a thing ta her.

Jayne waited for her ta look at him, ta see in her eyes that she was just toyin' with him, tryin' to make him jealous. He waited several painful seconds, hoping to see proof that he wasn’t so easily forgotten and replaced, that he still meant something ta somebody.

River never looked.

Jayne watched her squeeze his replacement tighter. He saw her soft lips place a kiss against the man’s back.

Jayne remembered how she’d tried ta sneak kisses in on him, how’d she started out kissin’ him just like that. It hadn’t been long ‘fore she started goin’ fer his cheek. When it got ta that point, he’d had ta start pushin’ her away. Yet it seemed the more he pushed, the harder she tried. Twice, right after they’d got done sexin’, and he was too exhausted ta put up a fight, she’d managed ta get one in on the lips. The second time it happened was when Jayne realized it was time ta end the whole affair. Yet as the months had passed since, he’d been thinkin’ maybe them kisses hadn’t really been so bad.

Jayne’s face softened slightly with concern and hope when thought he saw a tear creeping out the corner of River’s eye. Maybe she did still love him after all. If Jayne really thought about it, and he had many times in recent months, that might be somethin’ he could live with, somethin’ he would like ta live with. Jayne allowed himself ta hope just a little that the dreams he had about her, the dreams that kept him up at night, had a chance at becoming reality. Maybe he could have what he’d so foolishly given up. Maybe she’d give him another chance.

Knowin' he wasn’t likely ta get the opportunity ta ask her ta forgive him out loud, he did the only thing he could think ta do. He did his best ta focus his thoughts on her, ta tell her how stupid he'd been and how much he missed her. He hoped she was listening.

His eyes never left River's face as he waited for some sign that she’d heard him. For a moment, her eyes squeezed shut tighter, then they opened slowly to meet Jayne’s inquisitive gaze. The corners of Jayne’s mouth began to form into a smile, the first innocent, genuine smile that’d graced his features in a long, long time. Then he saw the sadness in her eyes and the slight shake of her head.

She was choosin’ the other guy.

All traces of a smile melted off Jayne’s face. His vision went white.

Without a second thought, he lifted his weapon and fired straight at the other man’s heart. In that moment, Jayne watched River’s mouth fall open and her eyes fill with horror and heartbreak.

Bullets erupted around them. Everyone dove for cover.

Jayne emerged from his daze and jumped behind a crate. For several moments, all he could see was the pain in River’s eyes as he’d pulled the trigger. Jayne didn’t fire another shot. At least, not at Serenity’s crew. Instead, to their great surprise and horror, he fired on his own.

When the gunfire ceased, Jayne closed his eyes, dropped his weapon, and allowed his head to fall back against the crate. He waited for the inevitable. He’d broken River’s heart once eights months ago, and now he’d done it again. In his jealousy and rage, he’d stolen her happiness with a single bullet. He was a horrible man. He knew he deserved what he got.

He opened his eyes when he heard a gun cock. River stood over him, still looking soft and innocent in her pink gown. He could almost picture her dancing ‘round the cargo bay, gettin’ in his way as he tried to stash the latest goods.

The tears streaming down her cheeks and the gun in her hands shattered his illusion.

He locked his eyes on hers. “Ya gonna kill me?”

The barrel o’ the gun lowered a bit as her shoulders dropped. “What do you want from me, Jayne?”

He wanted her ta love him. All those months ago, he didn’t realized how much he’d miss havin’ someone care about him the way she had. Before her, he didn’t think he could miss any woman besides his ma. He wanted ta hold River, ta wrap his arms around her and comfort her.

He didn’t move.

He dropped his head. “I don’t know.”

She closed her eyes and lowered the weapon. He barely heard her choke out a whisper. “Goodbye, Jayne.”

Jayne’s eyes followed as she moved to rejoin the rest of the crew. He expected ta hear somber voices and see Mal ‘n Zoe pickin’ up a dead body, instead he heard the sound of a young man crying out joyfully,”Bao bei, it worked!” The tall man with the weird gun and funny gadget on his waste rushed over and scooped River into his arms. “Did you see that? That was awesome.” Jayne stared in disbelief as the boy pressed a kiss ta her lips. The damn kid wasn’t dead after all. Jayne knew he oughta feel relieved, but that did nothin’ ta remove the tight feelin’ in his gut. Jayne felt his heart sink lower as the kid went on cheerfully. “It was just like I said. It only stopped the bullets for a second before it failed, but it was all we needed to find cover. Maybe if you and Kaylee help me with it, next time it’ll last even longer.” The boy’s huge grin faded as he set River on her feet and noticed the trails down her cheeks. “Baby girl, what’s wrong?”

Jayne watched her sob and bury her face in his chest.

The kid wrapped his arms 'round her and comfortingly rubbed her back. “I’m fine, River. All of us are fine. Please don’t cry. Everything’s okay.”

At that moment, the boy must’ve realized he had an audience. He looked over at Jayne, who hadn’t made any attempt ta move from his position next to the crate. When the boy glared at him, Jayne figured it must’ve sank in that River had just come from his direction “Who’s that?” he barked at Mal.

“He’s nobody,” Mal answered. “I’ll take care o’ him. You just see ta River.”

The boy continued strokin’ her back as he watched Mal make his way ta Jayne.

As Mal stomped toward him, Jayne reached for the gun he’d discarded at his side. He wasn’t about ta let Mal kill him without a fight now that he knew the boy was perfectly fine and capable of “seein’ ta” River.

Jayne didn’t have time ta get ta his feet ‘fore Mal drew his weapon. Jayne raised his in response.

Mal stopped in front o’ him, gun barrel aimed downward at Jayne’s head. “Give me one gorram reason why I shouldn’t shoot you right now.”

Jayne knew there was really no good reason fer Mal ta let him live, besides the fact that Jayne was in a position ta make sure Mal quickly followed him into the afterlife. “Doubt there is one,” he answered.

Jayne’s muscles tensed as he waited for the shot. When Mal lowered his gun slightly, Jayne let out the breath he’d been holding.

“Just this once I’m gonna forget that you tried ta kill one of my men, and I’m gonna pretend it had nothin’ to do with him an’ our ‘tross bein’ together. As much as you hurt that girl, it’ll hurt her more ta see ya dead. I don’t wanna be the one ta do that to her.” He cocked his gun. “But don’t think I won’t. So don’t let there be a next time. You stay away from that girl, dong ma?”

Jayne gritted his teeth and glared hard at Mal. Finally he nodded and lowered his weapon. Mal followed suit then turned and walked away without another word. Jayne longed to beg the capt’n to let him back aboard, to plead for forgiveness. He’d never had it as good as he had on Serenity. Hell, he probably never would again. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

Jayne watched as the boy put his arm ‘round River’s shoulder to guide her away. As she walked through the door, River turned ta look at Jayne. Knowing it might be the last time he ever saw her, he took in every detail: her black combat boots, the velvety skin of her thighs, the billowing fabric of her dress as it whipped around her legs, her delicate fingers and dainty arms, the slight curve of her hips, her slender waist, the silky, dark hair that trailed over her shoulders, her soft and slender throat, her delicate lips and tiny nose, her tear-stained pink cheeks, and her dark, endless brown eyes.

She turned to walk away.

“River.” The word came out before Jayne even realized he’d thought it.

When she turned back to him, he thought fer a moment that she was about ta break free from the other man’s arms and run in his direction. Then, the look in her eyes changed to a questioning one.

His mind screamed at him to utter the words, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry fer what I just did, fer what I did eight months ago, and fer not havin’ searched to the very end o’ the ‘verse ta find you and apologize before now. Please take me back. Take me back, and I promise I'll never hurt you again.”

Jayne’s eyes darted away from River’s. As much as he longed to say those things, something inside him just wouldn’t let him to do it. He hated whatever it was.

He watched River turn and walk out the door. He waited until she was completely gone from view before closin’ his eyes and lettin’ a single tear escape one corner. Jayne knew when he’d first started messin’ with that girl that he might break her heart. He never imagined he’d break his own.

Here's what the Chinese means (at least I hope it's what it means):
Cao wo - fuck me
Ai yah - damn
Ben dan - idiot
Go se - crap
Bu zhong yong - no good/worthless
Hun dan - bastard
Dong ma? - understand?
Avalon Pt. 2

The best moment of this ep was when Daniel realized Teal'c could be in trouble, because he wouldn't know how to figure out the puzzle. I loved how he ran away screaming his name then his desperate scream when the sounds stopped on the other side of the door. I just love Daniel and Teal'c friendship.

But the whole Vala thing is getting on my nerves. I hate watching Daniel continually on edge like that. It was okay during PU and then about the first half of part 1 of Avalon, but it really started to get grating. I initially liked how Daniel was showing concern after she got burned, but after about 2 seconds it irritated me. For the last few years, none of the characters besides Sam and Jack have been allowed to show emotion toward each other. But now that they have no Sam/Jack, they give Daniel such an emotional moment with some practical stranger who's done nothing but be irritating and deceptive.

They're obviously capable or writing those types of moments, even Rob Cooper of all people, but they just chose not to. I'm hoping that this means that we'll continue to get the caring and compassion among the characters that we've lost back as the season continues. But I'm not that hopeful. I think it's more likely that Rob Cooper has just decided to take his Sam/Jack focus and put in on Daniel/Vala, forsaking all other relationships just like he did before. I guess we'll find out, and we'll see if the ban on Daniel getting at all close to Jack or Sam is still in effect. (with what little time Jack is going to have anyway)

Of course, if they start getting into a Daniel/Vala relationship, Stargate will officially have the most f*cked up set of relationships I've ever seen on TV. (All JMO, of course.) I can see why Vala would want Daniel, but I could only see Daniel taking pity on her, not being interested romatically.

Burbank con report - Sunday, July 10

I went to the Stargate con on Sunday with Chris Judge, Michael Shanks, and Torri Higginson. I met some cool people, got some photo ops with CJ & MS, and got my pic taken with a Jaffa. The bad thing is that I was dense as hell and forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pics. :(

Prior to their panel, both a Teal’c and a Daniel music video were shown. The Daniel video was to a Queen song, which Chris teased Michael about multiple times during their panel, suggesting that ‘queen’ might be indicative of his lifestyle.

As they came onstage after the videos, Chris said, “Looking at those videos, I realized you used to be young and good looking.” Later on, Michael also commented about how watching montages of previous seasons makes him realize how old he’s gotten and how long the show’s been on. He said women come up to him and say they’ve been watching the show since they were six (obviously an exaggeration), and it makes him feel very old.

One of the first things Chris talked about was the women of sci-fi calendar and the preview video they were going to show. Michael interrupted to ask if anybody knew what he was talking about. No one did. Michael explained that he and Chris are “taking pictures of girls we know.” Then after a second realized “that didn’t sound good.” He elaborated that they’ll be taking pictures of sci-fi actresses and putting out a calendar in September. Chris is the photographer and Michael. . . is there doing something. (as Chris implied)

They showed the preview video, which included Teryl Rothery, Lexa Doig, Rachel Lutrell, Gigi Edgley, and others. All of whom looked gorgeous. Amanda was not included in the calendar, because, as Chris said, she was giving birth at the time.

Michael also commented that requests had been made for a men of sci-fi calendar, which was met with a lot of cheering. I just hope he wasn’t joking. ;)

When Michael was asked what role he would play in any movie if he could choose, he answered, “James Bond. He goes on forever and the women just keep getting younger.”

Somebody asked if next season would include more “Chia Teal’c,” referring to his hair. That got them talking about Peter William’s chia hair. After a bit of talk about it, Chris asked, “Who is that Simpsons character?” Michael answered, “Sideshow Bob.” Then Chris joked about “Sideshow Apophis.”

When asked what they found most annoying about their characters, Michael joked that the most annoying thing about Daniel Jackson is “his little buddy Teal’c. The man’s gotta choose his friends a little bit better.” Chris said he found the eyebrow thing the most annoying, because he used to do it whenever he felt like it. Now it’s written into the scripts instead of dialog. This eventually (I don't remember how) led Chris to mention that he had the part of Daniel Jackson down to a T. To demonstrate, he stood and said, “Hi I’m D--," then fell down dead. This prompted Michael to give his real answer to the question, which was that he found Daniel always getting shot and dying most annoying. He talked about how everyone got to shoot him in Lockdown, and in Gemini he was in two short scenes. One of them was relpliCarter gunning him down in a flashback. He joked that they’ve begun installing squibs into his wardrobe.

Someone asked if now that Daniel is 40 if he is going to have a midlife crisis, buy a Harley, and change his career to a mud wrestler. Michael answered, “Yes.” Chris joked that he could wrestle under the pseudonym Personal Injury Man and always make his entrances to a Queen song. I believe Chris suggested ‘We Will Rock You.’ An audience member suggested ‘Another One Bites the Dust.’

When asked about the best and worst thing Daniel had done, Michael answered that he originally opened the Stargate, and he died and keeps on dying. To which Chris responded, “That’s it. That’s your answer?” Michael defended his response by saying that he did answer the question, and he didn’t want to pepper it with anecdotes. This led Chris to ask, “What kind of a guest are you?” and point out that the purpose of the convention guests is to share anecdotes. Otherwise, he said, it’s “like doing a talk show and refusing to talk. It’s just a looking show.”

Chris then talked about how he and Michael don’t go out and drink anymore since their babies have been born. He said the previous night, they’d just sat in the room and talked like teenaged girls. And that, “if we continue this not drinking thing, we might find out we don’t like each other.” Michael joked, “I found that out a long time ago.”

Another person asked what was next for Daniel and Teal’c, which led Chris to joke, “As a couple?” (Apparently, Daniel and Teal’c will not be involved in a romance with each other.) Chris’ answer to the question was that Teal’c will have more lines. In the episode ‘Four Horsemen’, he had blocks of dialog, much more than Daniel. Chris then complained, “I didn’t sign on for this show to talk.” Michael and Chris then spoke about how Ben and Chris both try to get out of saying their lines. Michael said working with them is like being with a bunch of mutes. He did a Ben impression where he stood, and as though reading from a script, announced, “No. I don’t wanna say that word.” Then he said Ben would have a line like “Roger that,” and he’d try to pass it off to Teal’c. He’d even try to get background extras to say his lines.

Chris said Ben likes doing action, and he always wants to do his own stunts. They try to explain to him that there are people called stunt doubles who do all the dangerous stuff, then it’d cut to a shot of his face and look like he’s doing it, but Ben doesn’t want to use them. Instead, he’ll walk around banged up from doing his own stunts.

Michael added that Ben needs a dialog double, and that Ben would probably be the first one to request one for himself.

Michael also said that in Avalon, there was a chunk of Daniel’s dialog that, in order to fit all it in, he had to say it so fast he went backward in time. He also promised that there’s an episode where they all wear leather pants. (*fingers crossed*)

Someone asked how Michael was going to pose for the men of sci-fi calendar. Chris said, “Two words come to mind.” Michael looked afraid to know what they were, but still asked, “What are those two words.” They were, “Feathers and leather.” Chris explained that what he has in mind for Michael are motorcycle pants and a feather boa.

Another question was about Teal’c’s lack of sleeves in the later seasons. Chris answered that it was because he’d been getting into good shape and kept having to cover up. He didn’t like hiding all his muscle that he’d spent so much effort developing. This got a bit of a snicker out of Michael, and when Chris asked him about it, he answered, “I admire your discipline and hard work. It’s a wonderful thing to admire yourself as much as you do.”

Someone then asked about the ‘Puff ‘n Ruffle’. Michael and Chris asked who already knew what it was, and who didn’t. Many people raised their hands that they didn’t. When asked who was lying, one person raised his hand. So to explain, they asked for three volunteers to come demonstrate, pretending to be the guys while Michael and Chris were the girls. That didn’t quite work out as well as planned, but Michael and Chris did an excellent job of demonstrating when they took back their own parts. Then they brought Torri Higginson out to dispel the ‘myth’ about how they acted with female guest stars. She did the opposite, though for their sake, she did try to downplay it. As she left, she gave them both *giant* hugs, climbing on and wrapping her legs around them.

(At that point, I was standing in line to ask a question, and I got kinda lazy after I got back to my chair, so I didn’t get anything else down. The rest is just everything I can remember.)

Chris Judge said his favorite scene was in Changeling. At first, he joked that it was him and Corin in a fire truck. Then, he said his favorite was when Daniel and Teal’c were walking outside, because it showed their friendship.

When asked if Corin Nemec would be back, Chris attempted to be very delicate with his answer. After quite a bit of trying to dance around the subject, both an audience member and Michael helped him out by explaining that it just didn’t work out and that Jonas would not be back.

Chris was asked about a movie he did called ‘Personal Effects,’ specifically why his character hadn’t ‘hooked-up’ with the female lead character. Chris explained that those scenes had been filmed, but the network had requested they be cut out. He handled the subject very delicately, but it could be inferred that this was due to the fact that the lead actress was a white woman. Chris said it’s very obvious in watching the movie that the scenes were cut, but unfortunately, some are still not that open-minded about those things.

Michael said that Daniel and Teal’c don’t have any good bonding moments to look forward to in season 9 yet. There may be some later on, but there are none he's seen in the episodes up to this point.

Michael said he thought it was lame that Daniel didn’t get to go to Atlantis. He didn’t think that Daniel would let Jack saying no stop him from going.

Michael closed by doing Thor’s voice, saying, “Oh, yes. Touch me there, O’Neill.”

During Torri Higginson’s panel, Michael came out to offer his support since she's new to the convention scene. At one point, he pretended to be a fan, and asked her for a hug. Then he asked if Daniel had gone to Atlantis whether Weir would have a crush on him. Torri said yes. She also said she thought Daniel had wanted to go to Atlantis because he had a crush on Weir. Michael asked if she thought that *maybe* Daniel might have wanted to go because he had spent the last seven years searching for Atlantis, he lived for exploration, etc. etc. She said no, she thought it was because of his crush on Weir. He told her, “Wow. Great perception.” So it’s official. Daniel only wanted to go to Atlantis because he had the hots for Weir.

Torri also promised an audience member lunch with Michael, to which he replied, “Are you pimping me out?” And she later promised another a date with Chris, because he wasn’t there to object.

Torri also said that Weir would want Daniel in Atlantis, because she’s surrounded by people who like guns and fighting. She wants to have people who love people around. (edit) As Kristie at OS reminded me, Michael then broke into a little song of "People Who Love People" in quite a lovely singing voice. (end edit)

At the autographs, Chris had to catch a flight, so he got up and went down the line so that he would make it on time. The woman in front of me had a custom made archeologist whumping poster for Michael to sign. She said someone made it for her, and Michael got on the phone to the person who made it to ask what particular interest they had in seeing an archeologist whumped. When I got to Michael, I asked him if, since he does personal phone calls, I had a lot of people I'd like him to yell at for not coming. He asked, "A lot?" I told him a bunch of friends wouldn't come just because they didn't watch Stargate. In personalizing my autograph, he started to spell my name wrong, but was able to correct it. You can tell where it was wrong if you know about it, but that's okay. Michael looked at me to ask what else to write. My mind drew a blank, and the guy right behind me in line (well, he was in front when we started, but I just realized we ended up switching places as we were talking and moving in line) suggested he write his phone number. Michel wrote "All my <3. XO," and I got x's and o's in a little tick-tac-toe game on my autograph that I didn't get before. My new friend behind me requested that Michael not include x's or o's on his. Since he was in the Navy, he and Michael joked about it not being that kind of Navy.

Stargate fic: Soul Searching 1/12

Yay! Finally, chapter 1 of my fic!

Title: Soul Searching
Author: Callea
Category: Sam/Pete & Sam/Jack (implied), Sam/Daniel (friendship and something. . .a bit more complicated)
Spoilers: Anything up to and including S8 Endgame, especially S7 Grace
Season/Sequel info: Season 8. Sometime after Endgame and before Threads
Rating: R (see content warnings)
Content Warnings: language, sexual situations (Bordering on NC-17. Don't read if you don't think you can handle it.)
Summary: Sam must decide between Pete and Jack. But will a mistake she makes with a friend complicate the situation?
Authors Note: I began this story after Endgame first aired in the US. I intended to have it completed before the second half of S8 premiere and definitely before Threads aired. That of course didn't quite happen. Obviously it doesn't match up with events that occur in Threads so consider it AU if you'd like.

A big thank you goes out to my betas rowan_d and Maureen. Without them, the story would have silly things like Sam’s inner demons getting a workout. ;) If you don’t like something, it’s probably my fault because I ignored their good advice or didn’t follow it well enough.

(links take you to my site)
Chapter 1
Story's Main Page

more of me babbling about something

To everyone on my flist: Sorry I haven't been reading your posts lately. I feel bad about it, but I've been using it to avoid real work and commitments, so I've had to stop reading for now. Maybe after I get my act together, I'll be back to reading. You can always message me if you have anything you want to say.

Now on to my babbling:
I think I've determined why I'm lacking motivation lately. I believe it's because I've always been motivated by the possiblity of what might come for me in the future. Even if something didn't directly lead to greater future possibilities, I was happy to do it, knowing that I didn't *have* to do it in the future. It was just a means to an ends. But the 'future' is here. I've gone as far as I can go with my current motivation, and now I either need a new one or to establish another possible future. Yet I can't see any on this current path that really appeal to me. But how do I know if I'll ever find one that does or even if one exists?

I'm speaking professionally/career wise on all of this. I think I've finally figured out where I want to go personally, which is creating the problem that my original professional course is now almost a polar opposite. The personal aspect is almost easy to turn around. It's simply a matter of attitude, but the professional part is harder. With electronics, computers, and programming, you have to spend a lot of time researching and working alone. That was originally what appealed to me, but now I don't want that. Or am I wrong and it's just this job that makes me work in practical isolation?

This is the problem with creating goals. Once you get there, and find out that what you've set your sights on isn't so great or even what you really wanted, where do you go from there? Everyone tells you to set goals, but nobody tells you how to choose the goals you set.

Oh yeah, and I've decided I am going to take singing lessons. I used to be pretty damned good, and singing has always made me feel good. I was thinking about it before, but now I know I want to.

mid-mid-life crisis

Hello, everyone. I'm back again - sporatically. Just having another mid-mid-life crisis after coming to the conclusion again that I'm a moron and don't know how to do anything useful well enough that anyone half-way intelligent would give me a job. So yeah, I'm thinking that I need to go back to school. But for what, I'm not sure. I think I really like doing web stuff, but I only get frustrated and irritated since don't know all that much about it, because what I learned was all on my own. None of my programming classes had anything to do with web programming languages, and I really didn't pay enough attention in them to get something out of them. I learned enough to get an A then let most of it fly out the window. Basically, I suck. (And this isn't one of those things where I'm looking for people to tell me I don't, I know I really do suck.)

So, I have to decide whether I just want to take a few classes, work toward another bachelor's, an associate's, or get a master's. I like the idea of having a master's, and it'll probably benefit me most in the long run. But it'll probably be more expensive, and I don't think I know enough yet to make it in a computer science master's program. Also, after the total slack-fest that was my college, I don't think I'm prepare to make it in a real school yet, much less something that's supposed to be as difficult as a master's program. Argh... What to do, what to do...

I really wish I hadn't chosen that expensive-ass college or the equally expensive and equally assish (yeah, it's a word) college I went to for animation. I should have just went to junior college until I knew what I actually wanted to do instead of wasting 50 grand. I thought people who did that were losers, but it turns out I'm the freakin loser. *sigh* Nothing to do now but try and fix it by spending more money and working at this crappy job to pay for it. I guess it could be worse.

1. Take this list, post it into your own LJ, and mark the movies you've seen.
2. Add five more movies to the end of the list.
That was disappointing.

Why did Oddrey have to be part of the finale? Jack just looked so pathetic trying to get her back when she's not worth the effort. She is so annoying. I wasn't sure if she was supposed to be a likable character before now, but I think she was and the writers just screwed up big time with her. It seemed like we were actually supposed to feel bad that Jack couldn't get her back instead of wanting him to kick her in the ass as she left.

Blowing up the missile was way too anticlimactic. If you blinked, you would have missed the fact that they resolved the whole situation. My roommate actually looked at me during the commercials to ask, "So, they got rid of it already?"

The personal interactions between Jack and Tony, Michelle and Chloe when he had to leave were just too lacking for the possibility that they might never see him again. I kept thinking that he should hug Tony and at least say something to Chloe, but he never did.

On the plus side, Jack's conversation with Palmer at the end was good. Also, Michelle getting her phone call about Tony being alive almost made my cry.

Even though it was disappointing as a finale, this did set up some interesting possibilities for next season.

1)Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
11 DVDs
1 VHS of The Wrong Guy that I ordered without realizing I got the VHS instead of the DVD
10 DVD box sets

2)The last film I bought:

Don't remember. It was a long time ago. The last DVDs I bought was season 1 of Arrested Development though.

3)The last film I watched:
a)In the theater?:

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

b)On DVD?:

Reservoir Dogs

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):
a) Fight Club
b) The Serpent's Kiss
c) Star Wars IV-VI
d) Indiana Jones movies
e) Star Trek Nemesis

5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal:

Well, since it seems like everyone's already done it, anyone who wants to.
